ROCKY HEAD COMMUNITY…Mr. Jimmy Wayne Willoughby, a resident of the Rocky Head Community, near Ariton, died early Tuesday morning, December 20, 2022, at his home. He was 73.


            Funeral services will be held at 6:00 P.M. Thursday, December 22, 2022, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Shirley Ellis and Reverend Joe Underwood officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.


            Mr. Willoughby, son of the late Thomas Leonard Willoughby and Geraldine Robinette Willoughby, was a native and lifelong resident of the Rocky Head Community, near Ariton. He was a 1967 Graduate of Ariton High School. Mr. Willoughby was engaged in farming most of his life and owned and operated one of the last remaining Century Farms in Alabama. He enjoyed working with his hands, being outdoors, and being the caretaker of his family farm. After his retirement, he purchased the Connor Taylor House in Eufaula, an antebellum home, and restored it to its original splendor. Mr. Willoughby was a hard-working man with a keen sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lenzy Willoughby.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Shan Zigler Willoughby, Rocky Head Community; two daughters, Kristi Williams (Roger), Helena, Alabama and Misti Mitchell (Justin), Rocky Head Community; three grandchildren, Thomas Lee Williams, Taylor Grace Williams, and Amelia Eloise “Ellie” Mitchell.
