Obituary: Mr. Joe Baker


 


Mr. Joe Baker of Hartford passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Flowers Hospital. He was 68. 


A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2018 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Paul Campbell officiating. 


The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continue until service time. 


Mr. Baker was born January 18, 1950 in Geneva County to the late Roscoe and Sarah Evelyn McDuffie Baker. Joe was a carpenter by trade, loved woodworking, and enjoyed reading. He was a loving husband, a great father, and grandfather and took pride in serving as his sons Boy Scout leader. 


Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth Moore Baker; two sons: Joseph Baker (Kelly), and Jason Baker (Jessica); seven grandchildren; two sisters: Teresa Gailard (Martin), and Tanya McLean (Eugene); three brothers: Johnnie Baker, George Baker (Connie), and Jerry Baker (Josette); several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. 


The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Encompass Home Health Care for their love and care during Joe’s illness.
