Mr. Joel A. Kay, a resident of Ashford passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at this home. He was 74.

 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012, at 10 A.M. at Bluff Springs Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends at Ward Wilson Funeral Home from 5 to 7 P.M. on Thursday, July 5, 2012. Flowers will be accepted or donations made to Gentiva Hospice or the Shriners’ Children’s Hospital.

 

Mr. Kay graduated from Ashford High School in 1956. He was retired from Southern Company, and worked with ETI of Ashford, AL. He was a member of Bluff Springs Baptist Church, Ashford Masonic Lodge 493, and the Wiregrass Shriner’s of Dothan, AL. He also served in the Alabama National Guard for 10 plus years.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, E.L. (Jim) and Dorothy Kay.

 

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jacqueline Wiggins Kay, daughter, Sherrie K. Benton and husband, Marc Benton of Dothan, AL, and one grandson, Chase Benton of Dothan, AL; and several nieces and nephews.
