Mr. John Earl Pitts, age 61, a lifelong resident of Dothan, died Friday December 5, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the Dothan Community Church with Dr. W. Charles Lewis officiating.  Burial will follow in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery with Kendall Glover directing.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Dothan Community Church, 4390 Westgate Pkwy., Dothan, AL. 36303.

Mr. Pitts was born on May 26, 1953 in Dothan the son of John Pitts and Gladys Beatrice Bland Collins.  He worked as a sewer technician with the City of Dothan for twelve years prior to becoming disabled in 1992.  Mr. Pitts was a member of the Dothan Community Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Arthur Allan.

Survivors include: wife, Pearlie Mae Corbitt Pitts, Dothan; 3 daughters, Latonia Pitts, Belleville, IL.; Tiffany Jackson, Dothan; Frances Pitts, Ft. Lauderdale, FL.; 4 sons, Johnny Pitts, Keith Pitts, Arthur Pitts all of Dothan; Jonathan Pitts, Ft. Lauderdale, FL.; sister, Ida Rhodes, Kinsey; Mother of 2 children, Sheryl Brown, Miami, FL. and Mother of 1 child, Sheila Hollis, Dothan; 11 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be:  Johnny Pitts, Arthur Pitts, Jason Allen, Montez Myhand, Jerome Huntington and Marvin Bush.

Glover Funeral Home of Dothan has been entrusted with the arrangements.
