John Eric Sanders, known affectionately as Eric by his family and friends, passed away on February 11, 2024, in Pansey, at the age of 49. Born on July 24, 1974, in Dothan, Eric was a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend whose generosity and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him.

Eric is survived by his father, John H. Sanders, his sister, Lesley Danford (Brent), his brother, Jeremy Sanders, and his adored niece, Jessi Catherine Danford. He also leaves behind his brother by another mother, Casey Bonner (Wendy), his extended nephews, Dillon and Ethan Bonner, Press Lawrence, Will Hart Lawrence, and Gunnar Eubanks, as well as his extended nieces, Alexis Bonner, Jordyn Jones, Blair Bonner, Molly Carson Ingram, Lydia Ingram, and Barrett Lawrence. Eric was predeceased by his loving mother, Emily O. Sanders.

Eric dedicated much of his time to teaching youth classes at Antioch Baptist Church, where he shared his deep knowledge of the Bible and his unwavering faith. His interests were diverse and passionate; he was an avid Alabama football fan, a Star Wars and Marvel enthusiast, and a history buff with an impressive ability to recall wars and the generals who commanded them.

Those who knew Eric will remember him as a selfless individual who loved his family and friends profoundly. His ability to quote scripture and his encyclopedic knowledge of history were matched only by the warmth of his spirit and the breadth of his heart.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Antioch Baptist Church in Ashford with Brother Greg Aman and Brother Ray Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, Thursday February 15, 2024 at Antioch Baptist Church.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Gunnar Eubanks, Dillon Bonner, Ethan Bonner, Trace Watson, Press Lawrence, and Will Hart Lawrence.

The family will be accepting flowers or contributions may be made in Eric’s memory to Antioch Baptist Church.

Eric’s legacy will live on in the memories of those he loved and the community he so generously served. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
