Obituary: Mr. John Thomas Cody

 

Mr. John Thomas Cody of Slocomb passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Extendicare in Dothan. He was 74. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021 at New Hinson Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Klobe and Rev. Tony Barber officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continue until service time. 

The family request that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Slocomb Senior Center, 134 West Bateman Avenue, Slocomb, AL 36375 or New Hinson Baptist Church Youth Fund, 1143 County Road 48, Slocomb, AL 36375. 

Mr. Cody was born November 19, 1946 in Florence County, SC to the late James Thomas and Lillie Mae Malone Cody. 

In addition to his parents, sister, Peggy Trammell and brothers: Donald, James, and Ralph Cody, all preceded him in death. 

Survivors include his brothers: Jack Cody, David Cody (Ann), and Robert Cody (Cille); nieces: Tammie Santora and Christina Wood (Donald); nephews: Donald Cody, Jr. (Beverly) and Phillip Santora; other nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. 

Serving as pallbearers: Kevin Knight, Lee Brown, Phillip Santora, Cody Santora, Jonathon Cody, and Ken Blount; honorary pallbearers: Willie Proctor, Wayne Barrentine, Scotty Baxter, and Jeff Collins.
