Obituary: Mr. Kenneth Ball


 


Mr. Kenneth Ball of Slocomb passed away Friday, March 18, 2022 at his home. He was 75. 


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2022 at Slocomb First Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Slocomb City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 


The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continuing until service time. 


Mr. Ball was born February 4, 1947 in Geneva County to the late Lois R. and Maudie I. Ball. Following graduating from Slocomb High School. He earned his degree in Administration from Troy State University.  He later became administrator for the Geneva County Health Department with the Alabama Department of Public Health. Kenneth also owned a patent for compact motorized shopping cart which he developed in the 1980’s. He was a member of Slocomb Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and served in many other positions. He served as Fire Chief as well as various city boards for the City of Slocomb.   


In lieu of flowers the family request that contributions be made to Slocomb Fire Department, 255 Harris Highway, Slocomb, AL 36375 or Slocomb First Baptist Church, 225 North Dalton Street, Slocomb, AL 36375 in Mr. Ball’s memory. 


In addition to his parents, daughter, Tonya Collins preceded him in death. 


Survivors include his wife, Gwen Ball; granddaughter, Danarae Vann (Hunter); nieces: Marie Watson (Chris) and Amanda Teal (Scott).
