Obituary:  Mr. Landon Downing

Mr. Landon Downing of Malvern passed away Friday, November 6, 2015 at his home.  He was 67.

 

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Slocomb with Rev. J. Robert McMicken officiating. Interment will be at held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 11 at the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery on U.S. Hwy 231 in Ariton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday beginning at 6:00 p.m. and continuing until service time.

 

Landon was born August 26, 1948 in Dale County to the late James I. and Atris Inez Hyatt Downing. He retired from the Geneva County Board of Education Transportation Department after 32 years service and was a  member of the Devco Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include a son, Landon (L.B.) Brooks Downing (Kayla), Malvern; a daughter, Tabatha Downing, Fountain, FL; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Kathy Wallace; other extended family and friends.
