OZARK…Mr. Larry Frank Viles (First Sergeant, United States Army, Retired), a resident of Ozark, passed away Friday morning, May 27, 2022. He was 80.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 3, 2022, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop William H. Martin officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vivian B. Adams School, 2047 Stuart Tarter Road, Ozark, AL 36360.


            Mr. Viles, son of the late Emerson Edward Viles and Bernadette Murphy Viles, was a native of Detroit, Michigan. He grew up in South Lyon, Michigan and was retired from the United States Army, where he was a Vietnam Veteran. Mr. Viles was formerly employed as an evening/weekend Disc Jockey with WIRB AM/FM Radio in the 1970’s. He was also employed with Petroleum Helicopters, M.O. Carroll-Newton Grocery Company in Ozark, the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Power Plant in Columbia, and Blue Springs Water in Ozark.  He was an avid University of Alabama Football fan. Mr. Viles was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen Schmidt Viles; a son, Kevin Viles and a brother, Keith Viles.


            Surviving relatives include his children, Susanne Densel (Earl), Ozark, Sheri Ramirez (Benito), Lawton, OK, Eric Viles (Tracy) and Emerson Viles, II, all of Ozark; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
