OZARK…. Mr. Lelan Oneal Putnam, a resident of Ozark, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 30, 2020 in a Dothan hospital. He was 80.


            Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, October 2, 2020 in the Post Oak Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Bates officiating. A eulogy will be given by Mr. Don McCall. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery.  Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Friday at the church.


            Mr. Putnam, son of the late William David Putnam, Sr. and Violet Morgan Putnam, was a native of Muscadine, Alabama. He grew up in Riverside, Alabama and was a 1958 Graduate of Pell City High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy for five years. Mr. Putnam moved to Ozark in 1963 and attended the Alabama Aviation College. He was retired from Fort Rucker as an avionics technician working on helicopters. Mr. Putnam was a member of the Post Oak Baptist Church and was faithful for many years in the tape ministry. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Theda Chastine and Orene Carr; brother, William David Putnam, Jr.


            Surviving relatives include his wife of fifty-five years, Elaine Holloway Putnam, Ozark; daughter, Amy Maund (Chris), Daphne, AL; son, David Putnam (Theresa), Eustis, FL; three grandchildren, David Putnam, Jr, Ella Maund, and Grayson Maund.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be John Ross, III, John Ross, IV, Paul Elmore, Randy Holloway, and Todd Watson.
