Obituary from Holman Funeral Home and Cremations – Ozark, AL

Mr. Lewie Travis Stokes, a resident of Oakview Manor Health Care in Ozark, died Thursday morning, March 7, 2019.  He was eighty-two years old.


Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 11, 2019, in Newton City Cemetery. Interment will follow with Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing.  Condolences may be expressed at www.HolmanFuneralHome.com


Mr. Stokes was born June 6, 1936 in Newton, Alabama to the late Lewie Frank Stokes and Hazel Estelle Herring Stokes. He was an accomplished carpenter and avid fisherman who loved music, especially playing the guitar.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Stokes; and one sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Roger Edmondson.


Survivors include one daughter, Daphne Watson (Beck Jones) of Midland City, Alabama; one sister, Barbara Kirk (Charles) of Wicksburg, Alabama; three grandchildren, Joey Watson (Kristi), Keith Watson, Kevin Watson (Monika); eight great grandchildren, Mariah Watson, Makayla Watson, Macie Watson, Dakota Watson, Brian Watson, Azleia Watson, Avaleigh Watson, and Colton Watson.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.
