Obituary: Mr. Lloyd Miner

 

Mr. Lloyd Miner of Slocomb, went home to be with the LORD, Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Flowers Hospital. He was 85. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Dothan with Rev David Helms and Rev. Tim Willis officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time. 

Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park with full military honors and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Lloyd’s memory with your contribution to Ridgecrest Baptist Church.  

Mr. Miner was born June 29, 1934 in Chipley, FL to the late William “Bill” and Clyde Lloyd Miner. Lloyd proudly served 23 years in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, metalworking, and listening to 50’s music. Lloyd was very creative and enjoyed talking about the Bible and spending time with his family.  Lloyd retired as a minister with the Southern Baptist Convention - Home Mission Board after 15 years of dedicated service.  He loved to cook and always tried to make things easier for his wife. 

Survivors include his wife, Mary Miner; daughters: Pat Parker (Kevan), Lori Simmons (Wally), B.J. Smith (Jeff), and Karen Brabston (Eric); son, Kevin Lloyd Miner (Peggy); grandchildren: Tiffany Clifton (Jeremy) and their children: Maggie & Jude; Kysa Medina (Anthony) and their children: Micah & Brooklyn;  Kristopher Parker (Brandi) and their children: Kaden, Karson, Korbin & Koen; Genie Cochran (Damon) and their children: Carter, Olivia, & Carolyn; Joshua Miner (Caroline) and their daughter:  Anna; Alex Simmons (Carrie) and their children: Bryson & Sadie; Taylor Parker (Natalie) and their children: Ava & Triton;  Marybeth Melvin (Brent); Kendall Alderman; Matthew Brabston; Rachel Brabston; and Tucker Alderman; brother, Phillip Miner (Norma); special friends; Carlton and Brenda Cumbie Adams; other extended family and friends.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Ben Craven, and the medical staffs of: Flowers Hospital, Montgomery Baptist ICU, and Encompass Health – Hospice for the loving care they provided to Mr. Miner.
