Mr. Marvette Rice of Ashford passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at the age of 81.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, January 27, 2023 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Stephen Peacock officiating. Burial will follow in Ashford City Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 P.M. Friday, one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be gathered at Mr. Rice’s home.

Mr. Rice was born February 14, 1941 to the late Marvin and Cora Lee Rice. He was a member of Cowarts Assembly of God Church for over 50 years where he served as deacon. He retired from Home Oil Company. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Myrtle Brunson Rice, wife Gwendolyn Turner Rice and sons Stacey Rice and Derrick Rice.

He is survived by his sons Chad Rice, Shawn Rice (Marla), Jonathan Rice (Mandee), Marty Brunson (Brenda), grandchildren Olivia Rice, Andrew Rice (Kristi), Colby Rice (Laney), Lilly Rice, Jeremy Brunson (Sam), Amanda Brunson York (Drew), sister Patricia King (Harold), brother Lavon Rice (Ruth), and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Rice, Colby Rice, Jeremy Brunson, Tim King, Michael Green, III and Bill Marchant.
