Michael Andrew Karpovich, 56, of Columbia, AL, died Friday, March 2, 2012 at his residence.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in Clearman Chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Reverend Karl Hudson  officiating and Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Born in Washington, DC, he was a son of Robert Leonard and Hazel Vickers Karpovich. Mr. Karpovich was retired from the U.S. Postal service, where he worked as a letter carrier. He was a member of the Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Karpovich was also a member of the Falls Church Virginia Fraternal Order of Police.

Surviving in addition to his parents are a son, Joe Karpovich and a daughter, Beth Karpovich both of Ashburn, Virginia; a brother, Christopher Karpovich, Columbia, AL; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Southern Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the Karpovich family.
