Mr. Michael Lewis “Mike” Newsome of Geneva, Alabama passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012.  He was 59.


 


Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 29, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Larry Anderson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 29, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva  


Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to CTCA in Zion, IL.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday afternoon beginning at 1:30 and continue until service time.


 


Mike was born June 30, 1952, in Geneva County to the late John Lewis Newsome and Pauline Newsome Pridgen.  He worked with the Geneva County Road and Bridge Department and was retired from the Alabama Air National Guard.  Mike was very devoted to his mother; lovingly caring for her during her sickness.  He was a member of Westside United Methodist Church.


 


In addition to his father and mother, his step-father, Orsen Pridgen, also preceded him in death.


 


Survivors include a special aunt, Joy Snuggs Bowers and husband, William “Bill” Miller, Dothan; several other aunts and uncles, James Clifton Snuggs (Catherine), Geneva, Basil “Buck” Newsome (Frances), Earl Newsome (Coonie), Frances Harrison (Clifton), Mary Gilley, all of Samson, Sarah Helen Ketchum Gano (Herman), Enterprise; several special cousins, other extended family and friends.
