Obituary: Mr. Millard “Buck” Altman


 


 


Mr. Millard “Buck” Altman of Malvern passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at his residence. He was 85.


 Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday May 3, in Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing .


The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. 


Buck was born June 27, 1927 in Jacksonville, FL to the late Millard Buck Altman Sr. and Thelma Roberson Altman. He was of the Baptist faith. A proud Navy veteran, he served in the C.B.’s (“Seabees”) Construction Battalion for 12 years.  He was also a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3073, DAV Post 87 and the American Legion Post 12. 


Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Eloise Altman, Malvern; two daughters: Amanda Axtell (Daniel), Dothan and Charlotte Hamm, Newton; one son, Rickey Hamm, Dothan; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
