Mr. Monroe Jones

Mr. Monroe Jones of Samson passed away Saturday, January 7, at the family residence.  He was 67.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 10, at 2:00 p.m., in the Piney Grove Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Mike Medley and Rev. Jimmy Eddins officiating.  Mr. Jones will be placed into the church one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home Geneva directing. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Geneva, Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Jones was born November 20, 1944 to the late Alcus Lamar and Annie Lou Bass Jones in the Fairview Community of Coffee County.  Affectionately known as Pa Roe, Roe Roe and Granddaddy Jones, he was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed farming and spending time at the beach.  Mr. Jones attended Piney Grove Assembly of God Church.

In addition to his parents, one sister, Elaine Donaldson; three brothers: Mann, Ronnie, and Bill Jones; as well as his first wife, Judy McCullough Jones preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Letty Jones of Samson; three daughters: Debra Jones, Paula Dean (Kelly), and Paulette Deloach all of Samson; three sisters: Margaret Avant (Kenneth), Patricia Avant (Joe) and Nell Tyler (Rudolph) all of Samson; one brother, Larry Jones (Tami) of Enterprise; one sister-in-law, Brenda Jones of New Brokton; nine grandchildren: Vaughn, Rance, and Tanner Hill, Cory, Cole, Calli and Caden Dean, Dawson and Luke Reid; and one special niece, Crystal Reid (Brian) of Samson; several other loving family members.
