Obituary: Mr. Murry L. Peters

 

Mr. Murry L. Peters of Wicksburg passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at his home. He was 76. 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Buddy Hood officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartford City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continuing until service time. 

Mr. Peters was born April 12, 1946 in Geneva County to the late Preston and Nettie Lou Martin Peters. Murry was a lifelong resident of the Wicksburg and Slocomb areas. He was an electrician by trade and retired from AAA Cooper. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Murry will be dearly missed. 

In addition to his parents, his son, Michael Peters; brothers: Alvin Peters, Hayward Peters, and Winston Peters; sister, Myrna Smith, all preceded him in death. 

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Joyce Peters; daughters: Angie Treadaway (Ricky) and Kathy Dykes (Bobby); grandchildren: Ashley Cooley (Hollis), Brittany Burdeshaw (Scottie), Hillary Dykes ( Carly), and Bradley Dykes (Cady); great-grandchildren: Troy Bond, Blakely Burdeshaw, Landry Dykes, Raelyn Burdeshaw, and Greyson Burdeshaw; sister, Barbara Pullum (Kire) and Elizabeth Gilley (Robert); brother, Billy Wayne Peters(Charlotte); brother-in-law, Bill Orr; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
