CHALKHEAD COMMUNITY… Mr. Olen C. Grantham, a resident of the Chalkhead Community, near Ozark, died early Monday evening, July 25, 2022, at his home. He was 86.


            Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 28, 2022, in the Chalkhead Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Michael Woodham officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:00 A.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


            Mr. Grantham, son of the late Comer Grantham and Mamie Mallory Grantham, was a native of the Ewell Community, near Ozark. He was retired as the owner and operator of Grantham Well Repair. Mr. Grantham served in the 131st Tank Battalion of the Alabama Army National Guard in Ozark. He was a member of Chalkhead Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Grantham was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Joyner Grantham, a daughter-in-law, Sharon Denise Grantham.


            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Maleah Grantham Benefield (Donnie), Texasville; three sons, Tony Grantham, Ozark, Terry Grantham, Abbeville, and Tyler Grantham, Echo Community; a sister, Faye Tharpe (Lee W.), Echo Community; a grandson, Flynt Grantham; two great-grandchildren, Farrah Grantham and Emmarae Benefield; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Daniel Woodham, Paul Woodham, Stan Powers, Brian Powers, Charles Strickland, and Robert Dyson.
