HEADLAND…. Mr. Robert “Bobby” Ross, a resident of Headland, died Tuesday night, October 16, 2018 in a Dothan hospital. He was 74.


      Celebration of Life services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, October 20, 2018 in the Worship Center of First Baptist Church of Headland, with Dr. Cecil M. Sanders, Jr. officiating. Derek L. Wright and Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.


      Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Headland, c/o Building Fund, 301 E. Church St., Headland, AL 36345 or to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.


      Mr. Ross was born in Thomasville, Georgia, to the late James Andrew Ross and Pauline Liles Ross. He remained there up to his early teens, after which he moved to the Headland area and has remained his lifetime. Bobby retired from Donald Smith Well Drilling as a fleet mechanic.  He also loved woodworking and tinkering with any old things to make them new again. Bobby was also an avid Hot Rod enthusiast.


      He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Allen Ross.


      Mr. Ross is survived by his wife, Mary Cathy Ross, whom he was married to for 48 years; a son, Shane Ross (Laurie), Headland; two grandsons, Mason and Camden Ross, Headland; and several nieces and nephews.
