Robert L. Anderson, a resident of Cottonwood, died Tuesday May 1, 2012 at his residence. He was 76.

Funeral services for Mr. Anderson will be held at 10 AM Friday, May 4, 2012 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Rev. John Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Cottonwood City cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM Thursday May 3, 2012 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL 36303.

Mr. Anderson was born July 3, 1935 in Houston County to John and Ruth Anderson. He was engaged in farming and also worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Houston County Road and Bridge retiring in 1998. Mr. Anderson had a love for the outdoors and especially gardening.

Mr. Anderson is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Shirley Anderson; sister, Betty Hughes; two brothers, Arthur and Earnest Anderson.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his son, Steve and his wife, Frances Anderson, Cottonwood; grandchildren, Brad and his wife, Katlin Anderson, Joshua Henderson and fiancé, Kayla; step grandchildren, Scottie and Ricky Henderson; great grandchildren, JR, Hunter and Austin; three sisters, Johnnie Barrentine, Marie Anderson, Edna and her husband, John Henry Forrester; brothers, Early Joe Anderson, Charles and his wife, Beverly Anderson, James and his wife, Betty Anderson and John Anderson; several nieces and nephews.
