Roger Ashley Pollette passed away at home on Sunday, March 15, 2020.


He was born on June 21, 1949, the son of Roger and Julia Belle Pollette of Wadley, Georgia where he spent his formative years and graduated from Wadley High School in 1968. Ashley attended Middle Georgia College in Cochran where he was studying to be a pharmacist. He then decided to join the Army in 1971 and had his daughter, Joanna Lynn, in January of 1972. After serving as a pharmacy tech in West Germany for the Army, he was discharged in December of 1973. Ashley went back to school and became an RN and reentered the military as an officer. He became a decorated war veteran serving with the 85th Evacuation Hospital during the Gulf War. He was discharged as a Major in 1994. He then worked two decades in the forensics department at the Florida State Hospital. Ashley has been a lifelong outdoorsman and found the perfect companion in his wife, Wanda, an avid adventure seeker herself. They were married on August 29, 2012. They have spent the last several years enjoying traveling, camping, kayaking, hiking, fishing, and “hanging in the Sipsey”.


He leaves behind his loving wife, Wanda, and daughters Paula (Rodney) Steadman, Tammy Casper, and Joanna (Scott) Dean; grandchildren Mikinzee (Jayson) Rowell, Brandon (Chelsea) Casper, Dustin Casper, Samuel, Joseph, and Jacob Dean; great-grandchildren Alyssa, Reese, Charlie, and Stacie all of whom will greatly missed their Pop-Pop, but will continue on Ashley’s legacy for his love of the outdoors. He is also survived by his brother, Roy (Gwen) Pollette, sisters Amy Salter and Brenda (Wayne) Scott. His is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.



A memorial service celebrating the life of Roger Ashley Pollette will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Stokes Barn at Landmark Park.
