OZARK…Mr. Roger C. Haburey, a resident of Ozark, died early Saturday evening, December 30, 2023, in the Elba Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Elba. He was 59.


            Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 6, 2024, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Charles Goldsmith officiating. A eulogy will be given by Mr. Joe Adams, Attorney at Law. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.


            Roger was born December 18, 1964, in Ariton, Alabama and formerly lived in Massachusetts, Connecticut, North Carolina, Texas, and St. Augustine, Florida before moving to Ozark in 1980. One of his greatest loves was his beloved, Vivian B. Adams School. Roger made an indelible mark on the school, those who attend school, and the faculty of the school. He always strived to make special needs citizens’ lives better by being an advocate for them. Roger enjoyed University of Alabama Football, country music, bowling, and playing dominoes. He was preceded in death by his father, George S. Haburey, Jr. and all of his grandparents.


            Surviving relatives include his mother, Nellie Snell Haburey, Ozark; a sister, Susan Robinson (Pete), Ozark; two brothers, Michael Stephen Haburey, Panama City, Florida and George Haburey (Angie); nieces and nephews, Mary Elizabeth Jimenez (Donnie), Robin Nicole Jullian, George Haburey, IV, Jenna Haburey, and Stephen Robinson; a great-niece, Chloe Long.
