Mr. Ronnie D. McKnight  died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at his son’s residence in Headland. He was 64.


Funeral services honoring the life of Mr. McKnight will be 12 noon Friday, January 20, 2012 in the chapel at Covenant Funeral Services with the Reverend Norman Simmons officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time on Friday from 11A.M. to 12 P.M. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of  Mr. McKnight.


Mr. McKnight was born in Pinckard, Alabama on March 26, 1947. He graduated from Dale County High School and also from Ozark Aviation Technical College. He retired from M O Carroll and began working at Hall’s Florist. Mr. McKnight was an avid golfer and was a member of the Dothan National Golf Club. He loved Karaoke and Auburn Football. Everyone who knew him affectionately referred to him as "Possum".


He was proceeded in death by his father, Shellie McKnight, brother, Larry McKnight, and special friend, Alice Frances (Frankie) Parker.


Mr. McKnight leaves behind to cherish his memories his mother, Annie Myrle McKnight of Headland, daughter, Brandi Johnson and her husband Ben of Dothan, son, Kevin McKnight and his wife Stephanie of Headland, brothers, David McKnight and his wife Lanis of Malvern, Jackie McKnight and his wife Carol of Daleville, Mike McKnight and his wife Rene of Fairhope, Mark McKnight and his wife April of Headland, grandchildren, Lauren McKnight, Jamison Wilson and Averee Johnson.


The family would like to say a special thanks to all the caring staff of Gentiva Hospice for the loving care they gave to Mr. McKnight.
