Mr. Goodnight was born September 11, 1945 in Grand Island, Nebraska to the late Bernard S. and Annie Catherin Smith Goodnight. The first eleven years of his life, his family lived in many different states as his father’s work involved travel. Ronnie’s parents divorced when he was eleven and he moved to Hartford with his mother. He became a big part of GCHS where he enjoyed football and baseball. After graduation in 1964 he went to work for Irby Construction Company following in his fathers’ footsteps. He spent over 30 years traveling across the United States and parts of Central America. After having a stroke, he retired and settled in his hometown of Hartford. Mr. Goodnight has resided at Hartford HealthCare since 2013. Ronnie enjoyed camping, fishing, ball games, and attending church at First United Methodist Church of Hartford. Ronnie loved his family, his dogs, and Auburn football. War Eagle, Ronnie!

The family would like to thank the staff at Hartford Health Care for their loving care. They became like family to him and us. Also thank you to Gentiva Hospice for being there for Ronnie and his family.

In addition to his parents, daughter, Denise Crosby and sister, Bonnie Smith preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughter, Veronica Taylor; two sons: Kevin Goodnight and Dennis Goodnight; grandchild, Ashlenn Exum; sister, Gloria Graddy; brothers: Bernard Goodnight, Jr. (Sandy), Bobby Wayne Goodnight (Gina), and Kenneth Goodnight (Donna); several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
