Mr. Roy Howard Whitman, a resident of Ozark, passed away early Friday morning, August 25, 2023, at his home with his family around him. He was 96 years old.
Funeral services for Mr. Whitman will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 28, 2023, from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Kenneth Andrews officiating. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
The family will receive friends in the church Monday from 12:30 P.M. until service time.
Mr. Whitman was born April 19, 1927 in Dale County to the late James Roy Whitman and Eula Belle Senn Whitman. He served in the United States Navy and later with the local Chevrolet dealership for 40 years. Mr. Whitman was a devoted husband, father, friend, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather. He was a member and a Deacon of Southside Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Earlene Whitman; and one brother, Freddie Whitman.
Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Faye Farmer Whitman of Ozark; his children, Myron Whitman (Debbie), Joe Whitman, Barbara Wambles (Tommy), Becky Stafford (David) and James Whitman (Karen) all of Ozark; one brother, Frankie Whitman (Jennifer) of Ozark; one sister, Nell Cornelia (Charles) of Temple, Texas. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1124 County Road 11, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
