Obituary: Mr. Shelby Rex “Buck” Sketo

 

Mr. Shelby Rex “Buck” Sketo of Hartford passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Hartford Health & Rehab. He was 90. 

Funeral services will be held at10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Barbara Vernon officiating. Burial will follow in Garden’s of Memory Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 9:00 a.m. and continuing until service time. 

Mr. Sketo was born September 2, 1933 in Houston County to the late Rossie W. and Mandy Mae McCord Sketo. He proudly served in the United States Army, was a mechanic at Arnold/Myers Ford, later becoming Complete Auto Parts. Buck also worked at Walmart for a number of years before retiring. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend who will be dearly missed. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Sketo; two sister, and three brothers. 

Survivors include his daughter, Vicki Sketo Thomley; granddaughter, Heather Nicole Holman (Jeremy); great grandchildren: Jessilyn Thames, Jerrah Holman, and Haleigh Holman; brother, John Sketo; extended family and friends.
