Mr. Sidney R. Gilley of Headland died Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Extendicare Health Center. He was 78.

 

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Danny Bynum officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

 

The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of the Wiregrass, 457 South Alice St. Dothan, AL 36301.

 

Mr. Gilley was born November 16, 1933, in Wicksburg, AL; the son of the late Louis Simon Gilley and Nora Lee Helms Gilley. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved gardening and fishing.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Trulon Gilley.

 

Survivors include his wife, Martha Gilley of Headland; daughter, Amanda Taylor and her husband, Terry of Euless, TX; sons, Ronald Gilley of Headland; Tim Gilley and his wife, Teresa of Dothan; Phillip Gilley and his wife, Beth of Dothan; brother, James Gilley of Dothan; grandchildren, Dwight (Roni) Gilley, Chase Gilley, Janelle Taylor, Courtney Gilley, T-Jay Taylor, Sarah Beth Gilley, Clayton Taylor, Grant Gilley, Tanner Taylor, and several nieces and nephews.

 

His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
