OZARK… Mr. Spurgeon Aaron Bivins, Jr., a resident of Ozark, died late Sunday evening, June 28, 2020 in Dale Medical Center. He was 76.


            Homegoing services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 7, 2020 in the Earl Bankston Memorial Chapel with Pastor Stephen C. Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in the Greater Sardis Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.


            Mr. Bivins, son of the late Spurgeon Aaron Bivins, Sr. and Ruth Vernell Whigham Bivins, was a native of Ozark. He was a 1963 graduate of the D.A. Smith High School. Mr. Bivins was a veteran of the United States Army. He formerly lived in Atlanta, Georgia, Oakland, California, Silver Springs, Maryland, before returning to Ozark in 2005. He was a member of Greater Sardis Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Bivins was preceded in death by a sister, Verlia Agnes Bivins Mitchell Sherman.


            He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Betty Ruth Lee Bivins; children, Donna Bivins Anderson (Alex), Ozark; Spurgeon Aaron Bivins III (Latricia), all of Ozark; Andrea Bivins Davis (Mike), Vallejo, CA; Nicole Bivins McClendon (Antonio), Ozark; Courtney Bivins, Ozark and Talisa Bivins, Nashville, TN; sisters, Earnestine Bivins Weeks (Thomas) and CAPT Joyce Bivins Watson (CAPT William); grandchildren, Charleston, Derrell, Ke’Erin, Corez, Sasha and Symier; six great-grandchildren and two on the way; aunt, Sarah Bivins Gouldin and uncle, James Otis Bivins; a host of cousins and friends.
