Obituary: Mr. Thomas James Spivey

 

Mr. Thomas James Spivey of Dothan passed away Thursday, September 10, 2020 at home. He was 92.

 

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2020 at Memory Hill Cemetery with Rev. Chuck Spivey officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.

 

Mr. Spivey was born October 9, 1927 in Malvern, AL to the late Levi Preston Spivey and Willie Mae Rice. Thomas was South East Regional Medical Director for the Federal Penitentiary, member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriner, retired from Civil Service, and USAF where he reached the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed spending time with his family. Thomas was a loving father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed.

 

In addition to his parents, his wife Katie Ruth Spivey; brothers Max E. Spivey, and Earl Spivey all preceded him in death.

 

Survivors include his daughter, Linda Schnur (Gary), Austin, TX; son, Thomas “Tom” Spivey, Jr. (Terry), Barnsville, GA; grandchildren: Paula Tacker (Clint), Katie King (Greg), and Ben Spivey; sister, Mary Louise Branton, Malvern; brother, Chuck Spivey, Dothan; nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
