   Mr. Wayne A. Thomas, a resident of the Asbury Community of Dale County, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023, at his home. He was 87 years old.


   Funeral services for Mr. Thomas will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 8, 2023, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark. Interment will follow in Asbury Methodist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.


   The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home in Ozark from 9:30 A.M. until service time.


   Mr. Thomas was born April 5, 1936 in Dale County, Alabama to the late John Oscar Thomas and Daisy Lily Frances Strickland Thomas. He served in the United States Navy for twenty years and returned to the Asbury Community following his retirement.


   He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.


   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Myrlene Smith Thomas; one sister, Martha Annette Turner; one brother Malcolm Othelia Thomas; and one nephew, Willie Edwin Turner.


   He is survived by his brother, James Oscar Thomas; his nephews and nieces, Sandra Turner Tharpe, Thomas Dale Turner (Peggy), James Gregory Thomas (Karen), Richard Lee Thomas (Sherry), Stanley Smith (Amacie) and Stacey Evans. Many other nieces and nephews also survive.


   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Asbury Cemetery Fund, 2536 County Road 33, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
