Wiley David Baxley, a resident of Ashford, Alabama, died Monday, August 14, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 85.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM, Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Enterprise Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Wheeler officiating. Interment will be immediately following the service in the church cemetery with Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10AM to 11AM at the church.

Born to the late John and Emily Anderson on March 6, 1938 in Dothan, Alabama, David was an electrician by trade overseeing many projects. One of his many projects was overseeing the electrical wiring for what is known as Wiregrass Commons Mall. He also was a machinist with Sony Manufacturing, retiring after fifteen years as the only machinist that received his full certification in the machine shop. His hobbies included gardening and cheering on his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide in the fall “Roll Tide”. David loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was called into the ministry early in his adult life, going on to pastor Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Ashford and First Baptist Church in Gordon. He was a faithful member of Enterprise Baptist Church for fifty years. He married the love of his life of fifty-eight years Mrs. Claudette Paulk Baxley and began doing what gave him the most joy, making lasting memories with his loving family and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Gene Baxley, Lorell Baxley, Benny Doyle Baxley, and Foy Baxley; six sisters, Evelyn Corlee, Lorene Pierce, Lily Tidwell, Geraldine Smith, Helen Killingsworth, and Opal McKee.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife; a son, Dewayne Baxley (Laura); a daughter, Sylvia Parker (Jimmy); three grandchildren, Jonathan Harris, Preston Harris, and Kylie Parker; four great grandchildren, Hayden Harris, Krimson Harris, Willow Harris, and Adalynn Harris; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
