William Hugh Armstrong, a resident of Dothan, Alabama died Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the Dozier House in Tallahassee, Florida. He was 80.


Funeral Services will be held at 10AM, Wednesday, June 22, 2022 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home.  Burial will be immediately following the service in Hodgesville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 9AM to 10AM Wednesday. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Mr. Armstrong’s honor to Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 1231 Fortner Street, Dothan, Alabama 36301.


Mr. Armstrong was born to the late Freddie and Lucille Paulk Armstrong in Houston County Alabama. He served in the Air National Guard for 35 Years. He retired as a Postmaster after serving 30 plus years with the US Postal Service. His hobbies included fishing, golf, refereeing high school football games and cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide “Roll Tide”. He was a faithful member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, where he attended Coach Johnny Oppert’s Sunday School Class. You could find him most mornings sitting at The Table of Knowledge at Ray’s Restaurant. Mr. Armstrong enjoyed precious times with his family and friends. William was a loving father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.


 He is preceded in death by two sisters, Brenda Deatherage and Gail Danford.


Survivors include his two children, Scott Armstrong (Vickie) and Wendy Lipscomb (Brad); six grandchildren, Wesley Armstrong, KC Armstrong, Tifani Armstrong Westcott (Spencer), Connor Lipscomb, Drew Lipscomb, and Maddi Grace Lipscomb; a special friend, Sue Hammond along with many friends.
