Mr. William Thomas “Tommy” Murphy of Dothan died Saturday, August 4, 2012, at his residence. He was 66.


 


Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Monday, August 6, 2012, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Larry Reynolds and Ricky Plummer officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


 


The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 2 to 3 P.M. Monday, August 6, 2012, one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 3257 Cottonwood Rd. Dothan, Al . 36301.


 


Mr. Murphy was born May 4, 1946, in Abbeville, Alabama. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Dothan, Alabama.  He loved to cook for his family and never met a stranger. Mr. Murphy was a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, and a retired business owner of the Transportation Industry, but most of all he was a loving husband, a great father, and the Best PaPa.


 


He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Christopher Murphy and Dorothy Harrison Powers.


 


Survivors include his wife, Gail Murphy of Dothan; step-daughter, April Wilson and her husband, Greg of Dothan; son, William Wesley Murphy and his wife, Ashley of McDonough, GA; step-son, Jeremy Floyd of Chicago, IL; sister, Virginia Evans and her husband, John of Tennessee; brother, Mark Murphy and his wife, Jalane of Abbeville, AL;  grandchildren, Wesley James Murphy, Anna Grace Wilson, Claira Wilson, Laura Kate Wilson, and nephew, Tyler Murphy.


 


Pallbearers will be Jim Newton, Jimmy Henderson, Jerry Brown, Tommy Glover, Ronnie Thomas, and Robert Tomlin.


Honorary pallbearers will be Cada Carter, and Gary Fleming.
