ASBURY COMMUNITY…Mr. Willie Turner, a resident of the Asbury Community, near Ozark, died late Tuesday evening, August 3, 2021, in the emergency room of Dale Medical Center. He was 67.


            Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Friday, August 6, 2021, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tyrone Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in First Holy Ground Cemetery, Post Oak Community. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.


            Mr. Turner, son of the late Willie Burce Turner and Martha Annette Thomas Turner, was a native of Ariton. He lived most of his lifetime in the Echo and Asbury Communities, near Ozark. Mr. Turner was retired from Civil Service at Fort Rucker. He served in the Alabama Army National Guard, Ozark Unit. Mr. Turner attended the Ewell Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed his weekly visits to Sadie’s Flea Market to sell various items. Mr. Turner was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Turner and a brother-in-law, Foster “Ode” Tharpe.


            Surviving relatives include his wife of fifty-years, Trecie Smith Turner, Ozark; two sons, Eddie Turner (Jennifer), Hartford and Michael Turner (Brandi), Dothan; a sister, Sandra Tharpe, Asbury Community; brother, Dale Turner (Peggy), Asbury Community; two grandchildren, David Lance Spencer and Brodie Michael Turner; mother-in-law, Littie Lanara Barentine; nieces and nephews.
