OZARK… Mrs. Annemarie Rhode, a resident of Ozark, died late Friday evening, May 12, 2023, in a Dothan hospital. She was 89.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 17, 2023, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Father Chris Boutin officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.


            Mrs. Rhode, daughter of the late Hans Braem and Maria Sykosch Braem, was a native of Remagen, Germany. She married Albert E. “Dusty” Rhode, May 5, 1964, who was serving in the United States Army and moved to the United States. Mrs. Rhode has lived in Ozark since 1970 and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She was formerly employed with Hallmark stocking greeting cards at various stores in the Wiregrass area. Mrs. Rhode enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and University of Alabama football. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert E. “Dusty” Rhode (MSG, United States Army, Retired) and a son, David R. Rhode.


            Surviving relatives include three sons, Gary “Dusty” Rhode, Ozark, Brian Talent (Christina), Cadiz, Kentucky, and Mark Rhode (Kathy); a brother, Gunther Brean, Germany; seven grandchildren, Katie McDaniel (Robert), Kayla Nobles (William), Cody Martin, Brandon Rhode (Katy), Liam Tallent, Cristen Wientjes, and Jason Johnson; four great-grandchildren, Aubrey-Kate Rhode, Payton Hyman, Kaylee McDaniel, and Blake Nobles
