Annette Sue Brooks Whiddon Mycroft, 89 of Dothan, passed away on December 22, 2023 at Lake Seminole, GA with her granddaughter Amanda Kay Whiddon by her side. She was being cared for by special friends and former daughter-in-law Dennis and Beverly Cook, along with Gentiva Hospice care team and family members. Annette requested to spend the last of her years at the lake house, while enjoying nature from the view awarded her from her upstairs “apartment.” She will be missed by all, while her memories and stories will forever linger in our hearts.


Annette is survived by her son John Kenton Whiddon (Rhonda), grandsons B Scott Whiddon, Darren B. Whiddon, granddaughter Amanda Kay Whiddon, bonus grandson and granddaughter Kelvin Rice (Maddie) and Kristin Rice (Ryan); great-grandsons Tyler and Logan Whiddon, Aden Clark, Joseph Whiddon and Titus Whiddon; great-granddaughters Ava Clark, Alexandria Clark-Wells, and Elliana Whiddon, bonus great-granddaughters Chaney Adams, Adelyn Rice, LE and Koren Green, several nieces Eugenia, Virginia, Gayle Bowling Bingham and Mandy Fish and nephew Wayne Bowling.


She was preceded in death by her parents Marvin R and Allie Mae (Brannon) Brooks, brother Eugene Brooks (Edna), son James Marvin Whiddon, grandson John Adam Whiddon and her very loving husband Walter J. Mycroft, Jr. aka “Ted E Bear”, whom she loved with all her heart for over 40 years.


Annette was proud to be a retiree of JC Penney Co of over 25 years serving in both Dothan and Tampa, Fl. where she met her longtime friend Lana Vashlenski. She was so proud to have achieved her 41 year sobriety birthday living One Day at a Time, through the Grace of our Lord and Savior.


A Memorial Service and celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Darren Brooks Whiddon giving her eulogy. A burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at her home at 2114 Cecily Street Dothan, Al immediately following the service.
