Mrs. Avis Christine Smith, of Ashford, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2019. She was 92.

Born April 30, 1927 in Jackson County, Florida to the late Thomas Otis Bruner and Sally Conrad Bruner, Christine was a member of Cowarts Baptist Church. When she was younger, Christine helped take care of and raise her eight brothers and sisters. She loved spending time with her family and cooking. She loved the Lord and spending time with her church family.

In addition to her parents, Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Lantice Smith; her daughter, Janice Nownig; and seven brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her sons, Craig Smith, Ernest Smith, Roger Smith, and Tony Smith (Melissa); her daughter, Sharon Williams; her grandchildren, Shanda, Terry, Amanda, Allison, Dustin, Heather, and Kenneth; her great-grandchildren, Alexis, Cayden, Katherine, Bradley, and Trenton; her brother, Bobby Bruner; numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, November 24, 2019 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Coley Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, prior to the service.
