Barbara Postle Hart of Dothan, Alabama passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012 at her home. She was 77-years-old.


Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Evergreen Presbyterian Church, located at 1103 N. Pontiac Avenue in Dothan. Before the services, the family will receive friends, beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the church. Reverend Dr.  Joseph L. Johnson and Associate Reverend Sandy Lacey will be officiating. A celebration of Mrs. Hart’s life will be held at a later date in Destin, Florida.


Mrs. Hart is survived by her husband, William Thomas Hart; daughter, Lori Kay Hart of Dothan, sons, William Samuel Hart of Chicago, Illinois and John David Hart, Sr. and his wife, Haven of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; brother Owen and his wife, Pat of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and brother Greg, and his wife, Debbie of Punta Gorda, Florida; grandchildren Elizabeth Gray Thomas, Jonathan Hart Thomas, John David Hart, Jr., Mary Ellison Hart, and Anna Kay Hart.


Mrs. Hart was born on January 12, 1935 in Kenton, Ohio to the late Preston Lorentz Postle and Ethlyn Scheidt Postle. She moved with her family to Tuscaloosa in 1946. She graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1952 and attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she studied to be a dental hygienist. She was a long-time resident of both Tuscaloosa and Destin before moving to Dothan in 2006.


She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family with all her heart. She enjoyed countless happy times with her many friends who helped enrich her life beyond measure. Her family wishes to thank them all for their love and support through the years. The family also wishes to thank the staff of Covenant Hospice and Drs. Calvin Reed and David Gayle and their staffs for their care of Mrs. Hart.
