Mrs. Betty Frances McGowan, age 77, of Headland passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021 after an extended illness. 


Betty was born May 6, 1943 in Talladega County, Alabama to the late Ed Nicholson and Nora Baker Nicholson. She was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church of Dothan where she worked with Caring Ministries. She enjoyed crafting, shopping, and cooking. She also enjoyed decorating homes and spent her time caring for others.


In addition to her family, Betty is preceded in death by her nine siblings.


She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Daniel McGowan; her son, Michael Etress; her step-daughter, Cindy Burns; her grandson, Michael Chase Etress; her great-grandchildren, Anna, Jocelyn, and Owen Etress; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


A private family graveside will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 with a Memorial Celebration for Betty being held at 12 PM, Saturday, February 20, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church of Dothan with Pastor Rusty Milton and Pastor Henry Morris officiating.
