   Mrs. Bettye Grace Weeks Pechtel, formerly of Ozark, passed away on Tuesday, 13 December 2022, in Winterville, North Carolina.


   Please join us in celebrating her life, 2:30 P. M. Saturday afternoon, 17 December 2022, in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Davis officiating (1124 County Road 11, Ozark, Alabama 36360). Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.


   The family will receive friends Saturday in the church from 1:00 P.M. until service time.


   She was the daughter of James Taylor "J.T." and Eunice Simmons Weeks. Born 2 July 1932 at Grace Hospital and named for Dr. Grace. Dr. Grace and Dr. Smith delivered her by cesarian, the first one recorded in Ozark, Alabama. She lived in Ozark until 2017, when she moved to North Carolina to be with her family. She graduated from high school in 1950 in Ozark. She also attended Wallace Community College. Bettye worked at Fort Rucker from 1954 to 1988, retiring from Engineer Resources and Management Division. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Ozark and was very active with her Sunday School Class and volunteered with vacation bible school.


   She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Pechtel (Bob) 2 March 2002; her mother, Eunice S. Weeks 25 December 1954; her father, J.T. Weeks 13 December 1987; her stepmother, Maurine Byrd Weeks 7 September 2001. She passed away on the same day as her father, 35 years later.


   She is survived by her son, Robert E. Pechtel, Jr. (Bobby) and wife, Judi, of Greenville, North Carolina; granddaughters, Laura Grace Pechtel Jolly, and husband Kris, of Winterville, North Carolina and Amber Pechtel Garris of Greenville, North Carolina; great grandchildren, Palmer Austin Jolly, Donald James “DJ” Garris, and Piper Autumn Jolly. She also leaves behind special cousins, her beloved church family and friends from her working years. To know Bettye was to know love.


   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Alzheimer’s Resource Center, P. O. Box 1170, Dothan, Alabama 36302.
