Mrs. Brenda J. Gainey, age 75, of Geneva, Alabama, “Mims Hill Community” passed away July 23, 2018 at her home surrounded by her love ones.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., July 25, 2018 in the Chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry McAdams and Chaplin Dr. Chris Adams.  Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing.  Visitation will be held Wednesday beginning at 1:00 until funeral time.

Mrs. Gainey was born July 19, 1943 in Hartford, Alabama to the late William Damon and Sarah Montez Hallford Shields.  She retired from the James A Mulkey Elementary School, where she was a lunchroom worker. Brenda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.  She loved to fish, quilt, sew, read and doing crossword puzzles.  Brenda loved the Lord and going to Church. She enjoyed cooking and was known for making her dressing and loved making it for her friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors; her husband of 58 years: Rev. Donald D. Gainey, Geneva, Al.; Sons; Greg Gainey (Barbara),  Don Gainey (Sandy), and Mark Gainey (Brenda Marie) all of Geneva, Al.  twentyfive grandchildren; Chris (Rachael) Gainey, Kayla Gainey, Sara Kate Gainey, Jason Gainey, Jaycee Gainey, Evan Garrison, Brandon Beeker, Joush Chancey, Austin Hallford, Kristi Singer, Steven Jones, Nichole Chancey, Chastity Fleming, Ashleigh (Shannon) Cardwell, Danielle (Randy) Franklin, Leeann (Devin) Harrell, Rachel Williams, Tiffany (Wesley) Stokes, Hannah Kelly, Daniel Gainey, Faith Gainey, Holly Gainey, Renee Gainey, Casey (Heather) Gainey and Corey (Gen) Gainey; twenty six great grandchildren; one brother; Randy Shields (Dean) of Hartford, Al; three sisters; Charlotte Conner (Richard) Clarksville, Tn., Myrtle Lee Shields and Laural Meints (Gary) Hartford, Al; and several nieces and nephews.
