Mrs. Daphne Nell Mixon Thames of Geneva, Alabama passes away Sunday, January 29, 2012.  She was 68.


 


Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Roger Stone officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, January 31, from 6 until 8 p.m.


 


Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Merle Wallace Purvis Center or the American Cancer Society.


 


Daphne was born September 13, 1943, in Holmes County, Florida to the late James Willis and Frances Rebecca Sketoe Mixon.  She was a very loving and devoted wife and mother.


 


In addition to her parents, her daughter, Patricia Darlene Thames, preceded her in death.


 


Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Billy Ray Thames; one sister, Lorna Lynn Gillis; six brothers: Phillip Wayne Mixon (Margaret), Fred Cecil Mixon (Linda), Henry Mixon (Linda), Jerry Paul Mixon, Ray Gene Mixon (Mary), James Willis Mixon, Jr. (Judy), all of Geneva; two special sisters-in-law to whom she helped raise and loved like her own children: Gayle Hyde, Opp, and Wanda Lavallee, Geneva; several nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
