Obituary: Mrs. Delena Kirkland Russell

 

Mrs. Delena Kirkland Russell of Slocomb passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021 at her residence. She was 86. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday May 19, 2021 at Bethesda Baptist Church with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time. 

Mrs. Russell was born August 15, 1934 in Geneva County to the late Clarence E. and Eula Knight Kirkland. She was a 1952 graduate of Slocomb High School. For a number of years, she had worked as a nurse’s aide with Wiregrass Hospice and she was also a member of Bethesda Baptist Church where she was very active in serving her church. 

Survivors include daughters: Sharon Delena Russell, Susan Elmore (Charles), and Brenda Williams (David); son, Dewayne Russell (Jennifer); grandchildren: Carrie Smith, Anna Killingsworth, Jessica Sessions, Jeremy Williams, Laney Russell, and Jackson Russell; sister-in-law, Martha Ann Kirkland; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
