Mrs. Dorathy Jean Sowell Mixon passed away Friday September 22, 2023 at her home. She was 85 years old.

Funeral services will be held Sunday September 24, 2023 at Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Geneva at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Wesley Adams and Rev. Gary Taylor officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm.

Dorathy was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Rex O. Mixon; her parents, George and Bessie Sowell; two sisters, Janice Howell and Florence Adams; and a very special grandson, Lee Mixon.

She is survived by 2 sons, Neal (Sylvia) Mixon and Doug Mixon; daughter, Janee Sconiers (Ricky); 4 grandchildren, Lance, Cole, Brittney and John Will; 3 great grandchildren, Peyton, John Carter and Coralynn; brother, Joe Sowell (Susie); along with several nieces and nephews.

Mama was born on the 27th of October but the whole month was her birthday. She loved October. She loved her family deeply and unconditionally. Neal, Doug or I could not have hand picked better parents than mama and daddy. We are fortunate and know it. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her treasures, better than her diamonds and gold lol. We want to thank her caregivers who she loved and who loved her. Words can’t express how thankful we are to each and everyone of you. To Karen, our angel, you’re part of are family now like it or not. Mama adored you, we do too. Her smile was beautiful, she was beautiful. We ask when you think of her smile.
