Obituary: Mrs. Edna Faye Wright

Date: October 28, 2014

Mrs. Edna Faye Wright of Slocomb passed away Monday, October 27, 2014 at SAMC. She was 80.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1 at New Providence Baptist Church with Rev. William Irwin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Wright was born November 8, 1933 in Geneva County to the late William Joseph and Emma Keola Simmons Phillips. Faye loved the Lord and was a faithful member of New Providence Baptist Church. She possessed a strong and graceful spirit with the unique ability to overcome life’s many troubles with resilience. She was a devoted wife, nurturing mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.  

 In addition to her parents, her husband of 60 years, UV Wright; sister, Robbie Anderson; brother, Joe Phillips all preceded her in death. 

Survivors include three daughters: Deborah Bailey, Atlantic Beach, FL, Danita Murdoch, Slocomb and Donna Gantt and her husband Brett, Los Angeles, CA; two grandchildren: Lindsey and Cal Bailey; one great-grandson, Hunter Bailey; sisters-in-law, Rubye Thomley, Slocomb and Betty Phillips, Dothan; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
