Eleanor Floyd Womack, formerly of Ashford, Alabama died Monday, October 16, 2023 in Southside, Alabama, where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Michael Tate, for the past five years. 


Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, October 19, 2023 at the Howard Grove Church Cemetery in Cottonwood, Alabama with Rev. David Womack officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alabama Free Will Baptist Children’s Home at PO Box 8, Eldridge, AL 35554 or fwbhome.org.


Eleanor was born Jan 10, 1935 in Cottonwood, Alabama, to the late Ebb and Nora Floyd. She married Harold Womack on March 10, 1956. Eleanor worked various jobs at times, but her highest priorities were as wife, mother, and home-maker. She was a lifelong member of Howard Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Cottonwood, Alabama, where she served in multiple roles through the years. Eleanor was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a compassionate caretaker for many family members. She enjoyed her home, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family.


Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, nine brothers, and her husband of 60 years.


Eleanor is survived by her two daughters, Janet (Clark) Sheehan of Tallahassee, FL, Carol (Michael) Tate of Southside, AL, her son David (Teresa) Womack of White House, TN, three loving granddaughters, Tera, Tayla, and Tana, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
