Mrs. Emily Odom Sanders, a resident of Pansey, AL passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, TX. She was 73 years old.

A Celebration of Emily’s life will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Antioch Baptist Church with Reverend Greg Aman and Reverend Rick Glenn officiating. Emily will be laid to rest in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday, from 1 PM until 2 PM, prior to the service.

Emily was born February 5, 1950 in Dothan, Alabama and lived in Pansey, AL. She was a 1968 graduate of Ashford High School and attended Wallace College and Troy University. She worked with the United States Postal Service for 30 years. Emily enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and her Ya Ya Sisters. She loved her family and spending time with them all, making memories all year long. The highlight of every day was to spend time with her precious Jessi Catherine and see her smile. Emily was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, RA leader, part of the Joy Group, and a choir member. She also worked with Bible School and was part of the Children’s Counsel.

Emily is preceded in death by her parents, Howard L. Odom and Bronnie Bodiford Odom; and her nephew, Chad Eubanks.

Emily is survived by her husband of 51 years, John H. Sanders; her daughter, Lesley (Brent) Danford; her sons, Eric Sanders and Jeremy Sanders; her granddaughter, Jessi Catherine Danford; her sisters, Molly (Bill) Bootle and Gale (Harry) Eubanks; her brother-in-law, Charlie Sanders; her sister-in-law, Linda Sanders; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and several special friends.
