Obituary from Holman Funeral Home and Cremations – Ozark, AL

Mrs. Gerotha Simmons Heath, a resident of the Mabson Community of Ozark, died Sunday, March 17, 2019. She was 76 years of age.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 20, 2019, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Jean Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Mabson Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Wednesday morning from 9:30 A.M. until service time.

Mrs. Heath was born August 2, 1942 in Coffee County, Alabama to the late Barney Gilbert Simmons and Edna Lee Williams Simmons.  She was a member of Mabson United Methodist Church. Gerotha worked as a supervisor with Judy Bond Manufacturing Company and later as a supervisor with Michelin Tire Company for twenty-three years until her retirement. She loved playing the piano for Mabson United Methodist Church and Holman Funeral Home in Ozark. Gerotha served as a “Pink Lady” with Dale Medical Center. She loved growing flowers and working in her yard.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Ard Heath;  two sisters, Madge Etheredge and Gail Mobley; two brothers, Barney Simmons and Quenton Simmons.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, David and Angie Heath; two grandchildren; Morgan Heath (Hayden Merritt) and Jason Woodham, a special friend, Lavon Kelley all of Ozark; one sister, Mary Thomas of Denver, Colorado; two sisters-in law, Judy Chancy and Nancy Peters; one brother-in-law, Jerry Carroll. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Mabson Cemetery Fund, C/O Mr. Harvey Monk, 2256 County Road 33, Ozark, Alabama  36360.
