Mrs. Gladys Smith Cox of Slocomb passed away Monday, November 14, 2011 at Columbus Hospice in Columbus GA.  She was 85.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, in Memory Hill Cemetery with Rev. Ted Spencer officiating and with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.  Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Methodist Church League of Good Samaritans, 2001 South Lee Street, Americus, GA 31709.

Mrs. Cox was born on March 20, 1926 in Hartford, AL to the late Edgar B. and Bertie S. Smith.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Slocomb.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Raymon Cox, as well as one brother, Royce R. Smith, and two sisters: Carmie Jean Hall and Edna Smith Marsh.

Survivors include one daughter:  Linda Gayle Cox Bohannon (John) of Orange Beach, AL; one son:  Gary David Cox (Wanda) of Lawrenceville, GA; three granddaughters: Andrea Dawn Cox of Maitland, FL, Sarah Grace Cox and Paula Marie Cox of Lawrenceville, GA; two brothers:  Glen T. Smith of Dothan and Edsel B. Smith (MaeNell) of Hartford; several nieces and nephews.
